Royal Underwood
Welcome
I’m a writer who traded college for an education in the University of Life, while living and working among American Indians and unimaginably eccentric people.
And every time I sit down at my old Olympia SM-9, I remind myself that I walk a precarious path—one well-worn by numerous eminent writers who’ve produced fine literary works.
With this in mind, I endeavor to entertain my readers, though I often find the act of writing prose laced with considerable doubt. Consequently, I strive to be creative since, my high school English teacher taught me that nothing happens in a vacuum.
(Although if that were true, I’d never have to change the disposable bag on my vintage Kirby upright).
Meanwhile, I navigate through shifting seas of thought and imagination in a craft built from lived moments, stray observations, and half-remembered dreams. Within this vessel, I carry stories that bridge the familiar and the strange, ideas that invite reflection, and thoughts that I hope will linger long after the page is turned.
In my debut novel, RED PAINT, I explore the mysterious boundaries between this world and the cosmic unknown, weaving a tale of dimensional rifts, otherworldly beings, and the supernatural.
Thanks for stopping by.
